Battery Safety Guide
Handling Lithium-Ion Batteries Safely
18650, 21700, and other Li-ion cells are high-performance energy storage devices. They must be handled with care to prevent fire or injury.
The Golden Rules
- ALWAYS use a case: Never carry loose batteries in your pocket or bag where they can short-circuit against keys or coins.
- Check your wraps: The plastic wrapper is a safety device. If it is torn, nicked, or peeling, DO NOT USE the battery. Re-wrap it or recycle it.
- Use a high-quality charger: Intelligent chargers prevent overcharging. Never leave charging batteries unattended.
- Do not exceed limits: Know your battery’s CDR (Continuous Discharge Rating). Do not stress a battery beyond its manufacturer rating.
- Storage: Store batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Disposal
Never dispose of lithium-ion batteries in general household waste. Please use local battery recycling points found in supermarkets and recycling centers.
